Trumpet player Robert Gastelum has been playing since the 1990’s and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He’s been out performing throughout the years in various bands and his own group. He fuses jazz with other styles like reggae and he’s originally from the Napa Valley.
Also performing with Robert is a bassist from Sonoma County, named Cobey Gong, who recently graduated from Berklee in Boston and is gigging all over the Bay Area. On drums is Hassan Hurd, a current member of the famed band Fishbone.

Each of our bartenders will craft 2–3 original Mai Tais, and you — our ‘ohana — get to decide the winner. All competition cocktails will be available March 18–22, with voting via QR code in the lounge.

Surf Monster is a San Francisco-based surf band that has been making waves with their unique blend of surf-rock and rumble. The band’s debut album, “Surf Monster,” features 12 original surf compositions, including “Squidward,” “Swinging Temptress,” “Siren of the Surf,” “Nasty Halibutt,” “Desperate,” “Flying Squirrel,” “Surf Brain,” “Cowabunga,” “Don’t Turn Your Back on the Ocean,” “Piercing,” “Mariana Trenchmouth,” and “Shark!” The band’s music is produced by Jerry Stucker, a Bay Area Jazz-funk icon, and showcases a full cowabunga experience with sonic surprises such as saxophone, siren vocals, sound effects, and Theremin. Surf Monster’s band members are Steve Walton (guitar), Desmonde Mulcahy (bass), and Michael Molenda (drums). The band’s debut album was released on June 14, 2022, and they are known for their energetic performances and diverse musical style.
